On Friday, January 16, 2026, the “Hitachi Global Foundation Asia Innovation Award Ceremony 2025” was held at The Langham, Jakarta. Established in FY2020, this award program aims to promote science and technology innovations that contribute to solving societal issues in ASEAN and to the realization of a sustainable society.
The ceremony brought together award recipients, members of the Selection Committee, university representatives, and alumni of the Hitachi Scholarship Program — the predecessor to the Award, which concluded in FY2020. A total of 60 participants joined the event onsite and 52 joined online, creating a warm and engaging atmosphere as the ceremony commenced.
The program opened with remarks by Hidenobu Nakahata, President of The Hitachi Global Foundation, followed by a guest address delivered by Mr. Mitsuru Myochin, Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the Embassy of Japan in Indonesia. The presentation of the Best Innovation Award for FY2023–FY2025 was then conducted, followed by a video introducing the recipients of the Outstanding Innovation Award and Encouragement Award for the same period. In addition, Dr. Chairul Hudaya, M.Eng., who joined the event from the University of Indonesia, read a congratulatory message on behalf of the Rector. The heartfelt message was met with warm applause from the audience.
During the presentations by the Best Innovation Award recipients, each speaker introduced the background and outcomes of their projects with conviction, conveying a strong commitment to contributing to the sustainable development of Asia. This was followed by overall remarks from the Chair of the Selection Committee, Prof. Monte Cassim, whose message highlighted the recipients’ achievements and future potential, drawing warm applause from the audience.
At the networking reception held after the ceremony, participants actively engaged in conversations, building new connections across universities and national borders. It was a highly meaningful occasion that showcased the expanding Hitachi Global Foundation Scholars Community.
