Kamejiro Takeuchi
The organizations that became the Hitachi Mirai Foundation were founded by Kamejiro Takeuchi, a former Hitachi vice president. Takeuchi devoted his energies to helping Hitachi’s development its sales and marketing power, especially during the hard times before and after World War II. Upon stepping down from his active management role, he was concerned by the juvenile delinquency that was then coming to the forefront. To help juveniles develop in a sound, healthy way, and to help support rehabilitation activities, Takeuchi established the two organizations that eventually became the Hitachi Mirai Foundation, The Youth Rehabilitation and Welfare Center and The Correctional Services Foundation, serving as the first chairman of both. In 1969, he established the Takeuchi Fund, which made it possible to send Japanese probation and parole officers overseas to study. These activities have continued to be highly effective, right up to the present.
In 1981, the Minister of Justice presented Takeuchi with an official letter of appreciation for his endeavors in the area rehabilitation and correctional services.
