Environment Prize

Promoting Community Culture

To help further environmental conservation activities in Japan, in 1974 the foundation established the Environment Prize, under the joint auspices of The Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun, Ltd. with the backing of the Ministry of the Environment. The Environment Prize is conferred on individuals, groups or organizations for outstanding research achievements relating to sustainable development that reduces the burden on the environment.
The highly prestigious Environment Prize is one of the few Prizes in Japan that covers the full breadth of environmental issues.

"Environmental Research Quarterly" journal

Environmental Research Quarterly

"Environmental Research" is a quarterly launched in 1972 to bring news of environmental topics to a wider reading audience.
The editorial board consists of experts on the environment who select the feature and other articles included in each issue. The contents include environmental management, topical issues, and news of scientific and technological developments and practical working matters.
The journal wins particular praise for its translations of the environmental laws of other countries, which form a valuable reference resource.

Environmental NPO Assistance

To help environmental NPOs in Japan, the foundation established an Environmental NPO assistance program. This assistance supports two types of environmental activities: those focused on solving an economic problem and those focused on science and technology.

Environmental Education Symposium

Since 2005 environmental education symposia have been held in major Japanese cities to enhance awareness of environmental issues and to establish a sustainable society through education on environment.
